Tim Shaw was first elected to the City Council in 2008, and served as Mayor in 2012. In November of 2016 Tim was overwhelmingly re-elected to a 3rd term on the City Council.

In addition to his duties on the City Council, Councilman Shaw serves in various regional capacities. He is on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) where he serves in various leadership roles. He is on the Executive Committee, he is the Chairman of the Transit Committee, a member of the Legislative and Communications Committee, and a member of the State Route 91 Advisory Committee.

Director Shaw is one of 2 Orange County representatives on the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency (LOSSAN) board of directors.

Tim is on the Board of Directors with the Orange County Sanitation District. His duties there include serving as a member of the Steering Committee, the Operations Committee, and the Ground Water Replenishment System (GWRS) Steering Committee.

Councilman Shaw is on the Board of Directors with the Association of California Cities – Orange County (ACCOC), where he serves as Chairman of the Legislative & Regulatory Committee. This is a key committee in representing Orange County cities to the state and federal governments.

He has worked in the office of California’s Governor, an Orange County Supervisor, and a State Senator.

Tim currently works as the Government Affairs Director for the Pacific West Association of REALTORS®.

Tim has taught American Government as an adjunct professor of Political Science at Rio Hondo College for over a dozen years.

Councilman Shaw’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Arts in Legislative Affairs from The George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management.

He served a two year Spanish-speaking mission for his church in Chicago, Illinois.

As a young man, Tim attended Meadow Green Elementary School, Rancho Starbuck Junior High, and La Habra High School. Tim achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and he is still active with the Boy Scouts as a Merit Badge Counselor.

Tim is married to La Habra native Shannon Bryant, and they are the proud parents of sons Luke, Matthew, Wes, Jason, and Wyatt.
